Is the Supplement Brand Reputable?

How do you know if you are buying a reputable brand? The quick answer to that is reputable brands are the only brands we offer.

If you'll notice, we don't hype things up. We don't use giant fonts and lots of exclamation points. We don't claim supplements work miracles. We give you solid advice on what supplements will help you reach your fitness goals and what other things you need to do to get where you want to be.

Generally, the more spectacular the claim the more likely it is that supplement is a waste of your money. Rather than compare claims "Burns fat! Builds muscle! Makes you younger!" look at the science behind the product. What is it actually doing?

For example, a product claims to be a potent fat burner. Is it just a stimulant, or does it affect other metabolic pathways? How does the supplement work, and does the explanation make sense in plain English?

Another question that people often have about supplements is: "Is it safe?" That's a good question, and one you should ask. I have personally reviewed the supplements sold on this site, and refuse to sell supplements that are of questionable quality or effect. However, supplements can interact with medications.

And, some supplements don't work together very well (while others work better together). On that first issue, consult with a pharmacist. On that second issue, we'd be happy to review your supplementation program free of charge even if that means we end up selling you less. Remember, this is about your success--not our making a quick buck.

You might want to visit www.mskcc.org/aboutherbs to see if anything we sell is on their list (at last check, nothing was). That site contains information on about 140 products and is updated regularly. This site also includes information on whether a supplement can interact with prescription drugs or other treatments.
